BH60-EV features a 1,000 kWh battery, 54.5-tonne payload capacity and zero tailpipe emissions for mining and infrastructure applications.

BEML Limited has unveiled the BH60-EV, India’s first indigenously designed and developed 60-ton electric dump truck, at its Mysuru Complex. The electric dump truck has been developed for high-capacity mining and infrastructure applications and delivers zero tailpipe emissions during operation.

The BH60-EV combines a high-capacity electric powertrain with operator-focused engineering. BEML said the vehicle was designed to support cleaner and more efficient operations in demanding mining and infrastructure environments.

The electric dump truck is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), a rugged gearbox and a 1,000 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. It offers a payload capacity of 54,500 kg with a rock body and a volumetric body capacity of 36.4 cubic metres.

BEML said the BH60-EV was designed to deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment. The vehicle is also estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 130 tonnes annually per vehicle, subject to operating conditions.

The vehicle has been equipped with a spacious cabin featuring a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS), emergency steering and sealed oil-cooled disc brakes. These features are aimed at improving safety, reliability and operator comfort in demanding operating conditions.

BEML has also developed a complete charging station solution for the BH60-EV. The charging system is designed to work with site electrical infrastructure and can be scaled for fleet operations, allowing customers to integrate charging facilities with their operational requirements.

Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Limited, said, “The BH60-EV marks a significant milestone in BEML’s journey towards next-generation electric mobility for heavy industry. It demonstrates our capability to develop high-capacity electric equipment tailored to the demanding requirements of mining and infrastructure. With indigenous engineering, advanced battery technology and a strong focus on performance, safety and sustainability, we are creating solutions that can support both industrial productivity and the transition towards a cleaner future.”

The BH60-EV follows BEML’s launch of its 35-ton electric dump truck in April 2026. The latest model expands BEML’s electric equipment portfolio and strengthens its focus on heavy-duty machinery for domestic and international markets.

The press release also included photographs of the BH60-EV on pages 3 and 4, showing the electric dump truck from multiple exterior angles at BEML’s facility.
