Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka extended festive greetings to Singareni employees, stressing workers’ welfare, mine expansion, productivity, safety, and sustainable growth.

Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka conveyed festive greetings to Singareni workers, employees, officers, trade union representatives and their families on the occasion of Bathukamma, Dasara and Diwali. He stated that the Praja Prabhutvam is taking measures to secure new mines and expand Singareni’s operations in thermal power and solar energy to ensure the company’s sustainable future. He urged workers, employees and officers to work in unity to strengthen the organisation and enable it to address the challenges arising from changes in the coal market.

He said the coal extracted by workers under challenging conditions in underground and opencast mines plays a vital role in meeting Telangana’s power requirements and supporting the state’s development. In view of climatic challenges such as El Niño, he urged employees to discharge their duties with greater responsibility to ensure an uninterrupted supply of coal to power plants.

Bhatti Vikramarka said Singareni must supply quality coal at competitive prices, enhance productivity and curb unnecessary expenditure to remain competitive amid changes in the coal market. He urged workers, employees, officers and management to work in coordination and ensure the efficient utilisation of machinery throughout the available working hours. He emphasised that safety should never be compromised while meeting production targets, stating that every worker returning home safely is the foremost measure of success.

The Praja Prabhutvam is giving special priority to securing new mines to ensure that Singareni, with its 137-year legacy, is passed on to future generations as a stronger organisation. Sri Bhatti Vikramarka said the necessary approvals for the Naini coal mine in Odisha had been secured and production had commenced. The mining lease for the Tadicherla-2 block had also been obtained, while the Manuguru Prakasham Khani Open Cast-2 Dip Side block was secured through an auction. Efforts are ongoing to regain the Sathupalli-3 and Koyagudem-3 blocks. He further stated that plans were being formulated to diversify Singareni’s operations beyond coal into power generation, renewable energy, gold, copper and other critical minerals.

Measures for Workers’ Welfare

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that several directives were issued during a recent review meeting to address the long-pending grievances of Singareni workers. He instructed the company to speed up the appointment process for approximately 250 to 300 pending dependent-employment cases and to handle discrepancies in names with a humanitarian approach. He also directed officials to expedite steps to extend housing benefits to eligible beneficiaries on Singareni land. Meanwhile, an action plan is being drawn up to establish Nehru Housing Colonies to help workers realise their dream of owning a house.

The Praja Prabhutvam is focusing on replacing old and dilapidated quarters with new housing units and improving workers’ colonies. Cath Lab facilities have also been established to provide workers with better access to advanced medical treatment. In addition, the management has been directed to distribute safety kits once every six months and take necessary measures to address workers’ concerns regarding income tax on perks and allowances.

Bhatti Vikramarka said that 34 per cent of Singareni’s net profit of ₹1,754 crore in the last financial year, amounting to approximately ₹596 crore, has been distributed to workers as a profit-sharing bonus. Each eligible regular employee received an average of ₹1,53,912, while contract workers received ₹5,500 each. Sharing the company’s profits with workers recognises their contribution, he said.

“Taking the necessary initiatives to expand Singareni is our responsibility. It is your responsibility to make the company one of the best through hard work and unity. Our predecessors built this great institution through their efforts. Protecting it, developing it further and passing it on to future generations is our collective responsibility,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
